20th World Orchid Conference 2011. 第20届世界兰花大会

Highlights of the 20th World Orchid Conference

Thank you to all participants of the 20th World Orchid Conference

The 20th World Orchid Conference (WOC) ended on a high note on Sunday, 20 November 2011. Memorable moments included the gala dinner officiated by the President of Singapore Mr Tony Tan, the opening ceremony launched by Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and an orchid named after international music star, Sir Elton John.

A big thank you to all who contributed in making the 20th WOC a success! Our gratitude to the 1,000 conference registrants for such overwhelming support that registration was filled three months before the start of the event. We would also like to thank all visitors to the World Orchid Show and Gardens by the Bay who made up some 300,000 visits over eight days. Their response is a huge testament to the high quality of the Show which would also not have been possible without the commitment of our exhibitors and vendors. So once again, thank you to all participants of the 20th WOC!

Here are some of the highlights:

Orchid Man

The Orchid Man is one of the outreach activities organised to promote the 20th World Orchid Conference World Orchid Show. Unsuspecting visitors waiting at the taxi stand got some laughs when they were ‘punked’ by the 6-foot tall Orchid Man. Check out the ‘Punked by Orchid Man’ funny video below:
